Villa La Brisina - Stresa, Lake Maggiore - Vacation rental

"Overall, our vacation at Villa La Brisina in Stresa was a home run. The villa was charming old world in terms of beauty and authenticity. All six of us (three couples) spent a lot of time on the entry way porch area that overlooked the beautiful Lake Maggiore and the areas beyond. The Villa was definitely designed for old world charm which we all enjoyed. All three couples have been to other Villas in the Tuscany Region as well as in Oía on the island of Santorini, Greece while for one of the three couples, this was their fourth Villa experience. Alberto, the Villa concierge was amazing! He was extremely responsive, had many contacts based upon our needs and helped us with several things: Taxis to and from the airport, retaining a Van that could accommodate six(6) for the week, Restaurant suggestions, locations of interest other than the usual suggestions, i.e. Lake Orta, Vespa Rentals for cruising around Lake Maggiore and last but not least for recommending Chefs Angelica Marabelli and her husband Jharvari who made several wonderful meals for us. On a scale of 1-5, Alberto gets a 10! There are a few items that should be clarified for people looking at this Villa: 1. On the top floor where there are three bedrooms, only one has an ensuite bathroom. Your description states three large bedrooms, but there are only two that would fit that description; 2. We originally had a 4th couple that was planning to join us and we\\\\\\\'re glad they did not as the downstairs basement level is not suitable for vacationers; 3. The kitchen should be reorganized, cleaned and simplified. It looks us several days to find the kitchen towels; 4. The mattress should be replaced in the Master and smaller bedrooms on the top floor; 5. A table and chairs should be placed on the Master Suite\\\\\\\'s balcony; 6. Lastly the towel situation. Provide plenty of towels and ensure your costs are covered. When vacationing, one doesn\\\\\\\'t want to reuse towels/count towels. We cannot imagine anyone taking towels while on vacation? This has never been an issue at any villa we have stayed in, so not sure why it was here. Again overall we really enjoyed ourselves, the mentions above are intended to assist you in the future with your guests who we hope will have as wonderful a time as we did. I would like to address the critical points you mention. Firstly, you will of course appreciate that our home is a period, classical villa and as such cannot be compared to a contemporary home or hotel. In answer to your specific points: 1) It is clearly stated in the description on the website that each of the main bedrooms has a well-equipped bathroom for their exclusive use but only the master bedroom is ensuite. As regards the size of the bedrooms, both of the two double bedrooms have the same footprint size and by modern standards, neither is small. Perhaps the fact that the “yellow” bedroom contains more furniture gives the impression that it is smaller. 2) We have never had anyone before say that the basement is ‘not suitable for vacationers’. Again, as stated in the website description, it was formerly an independent staff apartment which has been recently renovated and redecorated. There are two good-sized bedrooms, one twin and one double, both of which share a brand-new (2023) bathroom, as well as a large living room with a comfortable seating area and refectory table. The basement is in fact at ground level, with its own entrance directly onto the garden and views over the lake. 3) As regards the organisation and cleanliness of the kitchen, we hope that our guests accept that the kitchen in someone else's home may be organised differently to how their own kitchen might be arranged. I am sorry that you were unable to find the kitchen towels in the drawers. As to cleanliness, this is always our top priority. Each week, three people clean the house from top to bottom including steam cleaning the kitchen floor so that it is ready for new guests. Again I would repeat that this is a period home and not a contemporary house. 4) We are sorry that you did not find the mattresses to your liking. The mattresses in the Master Bedroom and one of the doubles are new and the third is due to be replaced this winter. All of the mattresses are also covered with a down topper. I am sure you will appreciate that the firmness of a mattress is a matter of preference. 5) There are tables and two chairs on both the main balcony over the front door and on the balcony of the master bedroom so we are surprised that you did not see them. 6) The villa manager Alberto and his team, not the house, provides 3 towels (large, medium, small) per guest per week, and if that is not enough all you needed to do was to ask for more. In addition, they also provide a towel for the swimming pool and most guests find that this is quite sufficient for their needs. " ***
